On March 27, 2021, on the occasion of International Theater Day, the last theater performance of the Theater Cycle "March the month of theater" was held at the Prince of Asturias Municipal Auditorium, promoted by the Delegation of Culture of the Torremolinos City Hall.
The theater play "La vengadora de las mujeres" by the Jóvenes Clásicos company under the direction of José Carlos Cuevas had an emotional audience after hearing the allegation of the defenders of women in the history of humanity.
The 88 attendees could see from their seats how a cast delivered with a very elaborate and careful scenography made a representation of 10, raising the audience at the moment of the final ovation.
Synopsis:
Women of yesterday and today are summoned to testify in a historic court hearing. Machismo will sit in the dock. His defense will be tradition and patriarchy. The crime he is charged with is perpetual sexual assault. The testimonies of the victims will give voice to centuries of stories.
The avenger of women is inspired by the homonymous work by Lope de Vega. The fact that Laura, its protagonist, is an ardent propagandist for feminism and a deep defender of women's rights allows us to address questions about the treatment of this issue today. Taking as a dramaturgical model the media trial of ex-sports doctor Larry Nassar, we propose a ‘verbatim style of the Golden Age, in which texts by Lope, Calderón or Rojas Zorrilla will be mixed with real acts transcribed into verse.
